What is a Deck in the Gundam Card Game?

  1. In the Gundam Card Game, you use a main 50-card deck and a 10-card resource deck to pay costs.
Deck Construction Rules
  • Decks are built using four types of cards: "Units," "Pilots," "Commands," and "Bases."
  • Each deck must contain 50 cards.
  • You may include up to four copies of the same card number.

Card Characteristics

Unit Card Characteristics

Unit cards are the main cards used to battle your opponent. Some units have special effects

Pilot Card Characteristics

Pilot cards are used to enhance your units.
Combining them with specific units enables stronger plays.

Command Card Characteristics

Command cards activate once and are then sent to the trash.
Some can also function as pilots to enhance units.

Base Card Characteristics

Base cards protect the player in the Shield Area.
They have high HP and strong durability.

Resource Deck Rules
  • The resource deck consists of only resource cards and must contain 10 cards.
  • There is no limit on the number of copies of the same resource card.
About Deck Colors

Each color has its own characteristics that are closely tied to strategy.
The Gundam Card Game has four colors: blue, green, red, and white. Most cards belong to one of these colors.

Since you can use up to two colors in a deck, choosing a main strategic color and a secondary supportive color helps in building your deck. Build the best deck using the color combination that suits you.

The keywords listed on the following four buttons describe the characteristics of each deck type.

About Deck Size

Recommended Deck Composition

The following card distribution is recommended for deck building:
Unit Cards: 25–28 cards
Pilot Cards: 6–8 cards
Command Cards: 8–10 cards
Base Cards: 4–6 cards

You may include up to 4 copies of the same card number.
If you're unsure how many copies to include, use the following as a guide.

4 copies: Cards you absolutely want to use
Cards that are good to draw at any time or are central to your strategy should be included as 4 copies.

3 copies: Cards that are strong but one draw is enough
Cards that are strong but high-level or not useful early game are best included as 3 copies.

2 copies: Not essential, but nice to have
Situational or high-level cards that are powerful in the late game are recommended at 2 copies.

1 copy: Cards you’d like to see once in a while
Cards that are strong when they hit or need some setup are best included as 1 copy.

Criteria for Choosing Cards

Since this is a Gundam card game, choosing your favorite unit and pilot combo is a great starting point, but you should also consider the following when selecting other cards.

Color

Start by focusing on the color of the card you want to use.
To help choose a second color, think about either enhancing the card’s strengths or compensating for its weaknesses.
If the unit and pilot colors are different, that already sets your two colors, so it's important to decide your desired unit and pilot first.

Link Conditions

Some link conditions also refer to traits.
Pilot cards have traits as well, so being mindful of this allows for a wider variety of linked units and makes it easier to choose cards for your deck.

Level

If your deck only contains high-level cards, they can only be used in the later stages, so be sure to balance the levels.
Having about 16–20 unit cards that are level 3 or lower makes it easier to draw early and helps stabilize your deck.

Action

Command cards with 【Action】 can disrupt your opponent’s planned strategy based on the current board, so including a few can lead to comebacks. They also support your victory conditions, so choose command cards that suit your deck’s win strategy.

Refine Your Deck by Battling with It

How to Refine Your Deck

Once your deck is complete, try running it solo first. Simulate an actual match by preparing 5 cards in hand and 6 shields, and play out 3–4 turns a few times to see if you can deploy units early.
If deployment is difficult in the early game, revise the internal balance of your deck. If deployment is difficult in the early game, revise the internal balance of your deck.

If you can’t draw unit cards, increase their ratio. If you draw them but can’t play them, you likely have too many high-level cards—swap in more level 3 or lower units.

If things seem fine, try an actual match.
Only by playing will you realize things like “that card was really useful” or “I could take that one out,” so keep playing to refine your deck.

Strengthen Your Starter Deck!

How to Upgrade Your Starter Deck

When upgrading a starter deck, begin by checking its LR card.
LR cards provide effects central to the deck and can decide the game, so look for cards in boosters that synergize well with them.
Units that meet the link conditions of the starter deck’s pilot are also a good match and great for upgrading the deck.
It’s best to swap out vanilla unit cards. Try to replace them with cards of the same level range to maintain deck balance.
