What is Team Battle?

Team Battle is a multiplayer format where players form teams of two and battle each other. Instead of playing individually, teammates share a shield zone and take turns simultaneously, progressing through each phase together.

Items Needed for Play

The same items as 1-on-1 play are needed for Team Battles.

  • Main Deck: 50 cards
  • Resource Deck: 10 cards
  • Token Cards: As needed
  • Counters (e.g., for damage; dice can also be used)

Victory Conditions

The game ends when either of the following occurs:

  • The opposing team takes battle damage when they have no shields left.
  • ・One player on the opposing team runs out of cards in their deck.

Game Setup

(Updated on February 6, 2026 –Updated rules are shown in red text.)

1. Each player prepares their own deck and resource deck.
2. The right-side player on each team is designated the team leader. The leaders decide turn order with rock-paper-scissors or similar.
3. Each player draws 5 cards. Starting with the first team, players may choose to mulligan once.
4. Each player places 4 cards from the top of their deck into a shared team shield zone in alternating order.
(Place the shields overlapping, starting nearest to you and moving farther away, with the left player's shield in the nearest bottom spot.)
5. Each team places 1 EX Base in the shared shield zone. The second team also places 1 EX Resource.
6. The team going first starts the game.

Special Team Battle Rules

Aside from the following exceptions, Team Battles follow the standard 2-player rules:

  • Shields are not individual; each team shares one shield zone. Only one base may be deployed to this shared zone.
  • When shields are damaged or added to hand, the topmost shield in the shared zone is used. That card is returned to its owner’s trash or hand.
  • The maximum number of Units that can be deployed by an entire team is six.
  • Both teammates take their turn simultaneously. Teams discuss and proceed through each phase—such as attacks and action steps—together.
  • Cards are not shared. Players cannot use teammates’ cards, pay their costs, or activate effects on their behalf.
  • Information and strategies can be shared. If teammates disagree, the leader has the final say.
  • If a card refers to “ally,” it includes your teammate’s cards.
  • If a card refers to “your,” it means the card’s owner.
  • You may freely choose any opponent's card as a target for effects or attacks.
  • <Blocker> can activate even if your teammate’s unit is being attacked.
